FAQs
Frequently asked questions
Short answers to the questions our customers ask us most often.
Question not here? Write to us01Which home EV charger should I buy?
It depends on how you charge. For a fixed charging point in your garage, Trydan is one of our most complete chargers: you schedule it from your phone, it adjusts the power so you never overload your supply, and it can charge with surplus solar power. If you need to take it with you, EV Portable plugs in wherever you go. At V2C we design and manufacture all our chargers in Europe.
02What charging power do I need?
With a single-phase supply, 3.7 to 7.4 kW is typical, enough to charge most cars overnight. With a three-phase supply you can go up to 11 or 22 kW. Check your car’s on-board charger too: if it accepts 7.4 kW, a three-phase charger will not charge it any faster.
There is no need to upgrade your supply: our chargers balance the power between the car and your home at all times.
03What is the difference between Trydan, Trydan Pro and Alva?
Trydan is the charger for one car at home. Trydan Pro adds 4G or Ethernet connectivity and recognises each user by RFID. Alva charges two cars at once, with up to 22 kW per charging point.
04Tethered cable or socket?
With a tethered cable, it stays attached to the charger: straight in 5 or 10 m, or coiled in 4.5 m. With a Type 2 socket you use your own cable. You will find every option under Configure.
05Will it work with my car?
Trydan uses the Type 2 connector, the European standard for home charging.
06How much does it cost to install a home charger?
The cost depends mainly on the distance to your consumer unit and the work involved. You can ask for a quote through our installer network.
07Do I need to upgrade my electricity supply?
No. Trydan measures your household consumption in real time and charges the car with the power that is left, so you never overload your supply. The meter that does this, the ControlBox, is included.
08Can I charge my car with my solar panels?
Yes. Trydan uses the surplus energy from your panels to charge the car, so you draw less from the grid and every kilometre costs you less.
09Do I need solar panels?
No. Trydan charges from the grid just as well, and if you add panels one day, it is ready for them.
10What if the Wi-Fi does not reach my parking space?
Trydan Pro also connects over 4G or Ethernet, so it does not depend on your home Wi-Fi.
11How much is delivery and what is the warranty?
Express delivery is free and all our chargers come with a 3-year warranty, backed by our own technical support team. You can pay securely by card or bank transfer.
