Integration of the Fronius Solar inverter with Trydan

Do you have a Fronius solar inverter and want to integrate it with our Trydan electric vehicle charger? On this page, we explain the step-by-step process for integration and ensuring the correct operation of both the Fronius Primo and Fronius GEN24 inverters.

Steps for WiFi connection of Fronius inverters

Check the charger’s WiFi connection

This step is common for both models that are currently compatible with our Trydan e-Charger.
Before connecting to the solar inverter, ensure that the charger is connected to a WiFi network. To do this, open the V2C Cloud app, select the e-Charger, and check that it is connected to a WiFi signal.

You can check the WiFi connection easily with one of these two options:

OPTION 1
Check that the WiFi icon appears above the charger you wish to link.

OPTION 2
Open the e-Charger you want to link and go to the ‘Settings’ menu. At the bottom, you will find the ‘WiFi Settings’ button. If the charger is already connected, the network name, signal strength, and IP address will be displayed. If not, select the available WiFi signal, provided you are near the charging point, and enter the corresponding password. If this method doesn’t work, manually input the network details.

It is important to remember that the WiFi network you connect to should be 2.4GHz, and you must note the SSID name of the network for the Fronius inverter configuration.

Inverter configuration

Fronius Primo

The following configuration aims to pair the Fronius Primo inverter with the Trydan e-Charger to ensure proper communication between them. To do this, enable the WiFi hotspot on the Fronius inverter and connect via a computer or smartphone.

How to enable the WiFi signal on the Fronius Primo inverter?

Press any button to turn on the screen and navigate through it.

Press the second button to move right to the ‘Settings’ option, then press the fourth button to enter.

Press the second button again until you find the ‘WiFi access point’ option and enter it by pressing the fourth button.

Press the fourth button to activate WiFi AP.

Once activated, make a note of the provided data (WiFi access point name and password) as the process will continue on the computer or smartphone to connect to the WiFi signal emitted by the Fronius inverter.

Connect to the Fronius wireless network

Access from your computer or smartphone and look for the signal emitted by the Fronius inverter. The network name and password will be displayed on the inverter’s screen. If you have any doubts, refer to the previous section.

Access the Fronius web interface

Once the wireless network is established, open the web browser and enter the following address: 192.168.250.181 . If prompted for login credentials, enter username: admin and password: admin. If you cannot access it, contact the installer or Fronius, who will provide a one-time password.

Preliminary configuration from the Fronius web portal

Press the System Information button located at the top-right of the screen. In this window, it is important to pay attention to the IP Address listed under ‘Interface WLAN’. Then, verify that this IP address matches the one found under ‘Network’ > ‘LAN Settings’

Go to the ‘Settings’ section on the right sidebar.

Access the ‘Network’ option from the left-hand menu and connect to the same wireless network used to connect the Trydan e-Charger. The IP address assigned under ‘LAN Settings’ should match the one obtained in Step . If it doesn’t, you will need to modify it manually.

In the ‘Modbus’ section of the left-hand menu, configure the various options exactly as shown in the image in Step 4.

Fronius GEN 24

For the GEN24 model, connect from a computer or smartphone to the IP that allows you to enter the inverter interface by default: 192.168.1.105 or WLAN IP 192.168.250.181 . Check this information directly on the side label of the inverter or scan the IP found on the local network.

Consult the IP of the Fronius GEN24 inverter

Once inside the inverter interface, click on the ‘Communication’ section, then go to ‘Network’. Note down the IP address (IP Address); this is the one to use when linking the inverter with the charger. In this case, the IP address is 192.168.1.102, as shown in the image.

Enable Modbus TCP/IP on the Fronius GEN24 inverter

In the ‘Communication’ section, go to Modbus and ensure that the information is configured as follows:

Slave as Modbus TCP: Enabled
Modbus Port:
502
Meter Address:
240
SunSpec Model Type:
Select ‘float’.
Inverter Control via Modbus:
Enabled

Configuring the Fronius Inverter in V2C Cloud

This final step is common for both the Fronius Primo and GEN24 and involves linking the solar inverter to the charger.

To properly configure dynamic power control in V2C Cloud, go to the ‘settings’ section of your e-Charger and select ‘dynamic power control’.

Choose ‘inverter’ as the device type and select Fronius in the ‘inverter type’ section. Then, assign the static IP address provided by Fronius and choose the appropriate installation for each case.

Finally, click ‘Save’ to apply the configuration correctly. The system will restart and be ready to perform dynamic power control.
