How to link Trydan / Trydan Pro with the Intelligent Octopus Go tariff

Octopus Energy offers tariffs designed to make the most of renewable energy and lower-cost time periods.

Among them, the Intelligent Octopus Go tariff stands out, as it is specifically designed for electric vehicle users. By integrating it with the Trydan or Trydan Pro charger from V2C, your scheduled charging sessions will benefit from a special price of 7p/kWh. You simply need to choose the time by which you want your car to be ready and the desired charge level.

Below, we explain the steps required to complete the integration correctly, ensuring optimal performance and a smooth, hassle-free charging experience.

To link the tariff, make sure that your charger is running firmware version 2.3.24.1 and has an active Internet connection. If you do not yet have this version, go to Settings > Update charger to install the latest version available on the market.

If at any point you wish to stop using the tariff, simply disable OCPP from the V2C Cloud app. To use it again, just reactivate OCPP. Find out how to enable and disable OCPP.

Steps to link your V2C charger with Intelligent Octopus Go

Open the Octopus Energy app and follow these steps:

Open the Octopus app on your phone and go to the “Devices” section. This is where you can manage all devices connected to your account, including chargers and electric vehicles.

Tap “Add device”.

Select “Electric vehicle”. This allows the app to detect and configure your car within your profile.

Before continuing, make sure your vehicle is plugged in at home and ready to communicate with the app. This is essential for the linking process to work correctly.

Next, add your vehicle in the app. You will be asked to specify the make and model of your car. Ensure the information is correct so the app can access the required vehicle data.

Once the vehicle has been added, it is time to add your charger. As with the vehicle, select V2C as the brand and choose the specific model of your charger.

Tap “Accept and connect”. This will start the registration of both the charger and the vehicle in your account.

At this point, if your vehicle is compatible with Octopus, the app will redirect you to the vehicle manufacturer’s platform to complete the connection. If your vehicle is not directly compatible with Octopus, the link will be made using the charger only.

Please note that only one of the two (vehicle or charger) needs to be compatible with Octopus.

Log in to the vehicle app (if compatible) or the V2C app, and authorise the Octopus app to access your vehicle data. This authorisation is required so that Octopus can schedule charging according to the Intelligent Go tariff.

Once this step is complete, return to the Octopus app to finalise the integration. Confirm again that the vehicle is plugged in to test the connection. When finished, your vehicle or charger will be successfully linked with Octopus, and you can start enjoying the Intelligent Octopus Go tariff.
