Update to the latest version of Trydan

We are constantly working to improve the functionality of our products. That’s why, in order to get new features and optimal performance, you should make sure you keep your products updated with the latest firmware.

If during the update the e-Charger is ‘stuck’ on a screen or becomes unresponsive, it is advisable to restart the device and repeat the steps again.

Trydan Update Modes

When your e-Charger has a stable WiFi connection you can update it directly from the V2C Cloud application in three easy steps:

Steps to update Trydan

Select the charger you wish to update.

Go to the ‘settings’ menu and check the current firmware version.

Scroll to the bottom of the menu and click on ‘Update firmware’.

* If you don’t see the ‘Update firmware’ button at the bottom of the page, it means that your charger already has the latest version.

If your device does not have a stable WiFi connection, there are several ways to perform the update:

Steps to update Trydan with e-Charger WiFi direct connection – iOS or Android Operating System

Trydan offers the possibility to establish a WiFi signal that allows us to connect and update the device. This function is particularly useful when you have a charger in an area without WiFi coverage or connection.

To carry out the update, it is essential to have access to the Internet from your smartphone, so you can download using mobile data or connected to a WiFi network. You can then perform the update process from the area without coverage where Trydan is located. Follow these steps:

Select the charger you wish to update and access the ‘settings’ menu. Check the current firmware version.

Download the official firmware version you want to upgrade to by selecting ‘more details about this release’. In case you have a version earlier than 1.7.16 make sure to rename the downloaded file to v2cwrover.bin.

Check the local Trydan WiFi network. When near the charger, find and confirm that the network broadcast by the charger is active.
To do this, select the WiFi icon in your smartphone’s settings and make sure that a network including your charger ID (e.g. V2C_Trydan_IDCharger) is displayed.

*In case the Trydan WiFi network does not appear, set the charger to a non-existing network by enabling the local Trydan WiFi hotspot with a name like ‘abcd’ and a password ‘abcd’.

To enable the WiFi hotspot, select the e-Charger, access the ‘settings’ menu, click on ‘WiFi settings’ and enter the name and password created. Press connect, wait for the charging point to reboot and verify that the local WiFi now appears in the network list of your mobile terminal.

If the local access point V2C_Trydan_IDCargador is displayed directly the password is trydan12345678

Once connected to the WiFi, open the browser and enter the IP: 192.168.4.1. A screen should appear on which you should enter the login details user:admin and password:admin.

On the main screen, go to the top right menu and go to the ‘upgrading and network’ section. Click on the folio+ icon and select the v2cwrover.bin file. To complete the installation successfully, press ‘save and install’.

On the Trydan display, you will see the message ‘downloading’ above a status bar. When the download is complete, you will see ‘installing’, at which point Trydan restarts with the updated version visible on the display.

Steps to update Trydan by sharing the Internet from a mobile phone with Android operating system

When there is no WiFi network available, but you have mobile connectivity on your Android OS device, you have the option to turn it into a WiFi hotspot to link it to your e-Charger.

Depending on your phone model, there may be different routes to activate this option. Here are some of them:

  • Settings > Connections > Connection Sharing & Modem > Connection Sharing (Samsung)
  • Settings > Portable hotspot (Xiaomi)
  • Settings > Connection & Sharing > Portable hotspot (Xiaomi)
  • Settings > Wireless & networks > Wi-Fi tethering & hotspot > Portable Wi-Fi hotspot (Huawei)

*Please note that older versions of Android may change the name and order of the menus. If you can’t find the setting, you can always use the search engine at the top.

By activating connection sharing you can modify both the name of the network you are creating and the password requested to connect to that network from your recharging point.

Once this functionality is activated, choose the e-Charger, select the charger you wish to update and access the ‘settings’ menu.

Click on ‘WiFi settings’ and enter the name and password you assigned when setting up the portable hotspot/shared connection. Then click on the ‘connect’ button.

Once the e-Charger is connected (you can verify this by the WiFi icon on the main screen of the V2C Cloud app), go back to the ‘settings’ menu of the charging point you want to update. There, press the button located at the bottom of the ‘update firmware’ menu.

On the Trydan display, you will see the message ‘downloading’ next to a status bar. When the download is complete, you will see ‘installing’ and when that bar is complete Trydan restarts with the updated version that you can see on the display.

If you have coverage on your iPhone, you can use it as a WiFi hotspot to connect your e-Charger. This method is especially useful in situations where there is no WiFi network available, but you have cellular coverage on your smartphone.

First make sure you have mobile data enabled if you have not already done so in the ‘mobile data’ section of the ‘settings’ menu.

Then go to ‘Set up personal hotspot’ and allow other devices to connect.

To connect the charging point to your iPhone’s WiFi hotspot, choose the e-Charger, select the charger you wish to update and access the ‘settings’ menu.

Click on ‘WiFi settings’ and enter the name listed under ‘information’ in the general settings of your smartphone, as well as the password you have set or the default password in the ‘personal hotspot settings’. Then press the ‘connect’ button.
