Integration of the Sofar inverter with Trydan/Trydan Pro

The Sofar inverters can be integrated with the Trydan or Trydan Pro charger through the Modbus protocol, either via RS485 connection or TCP network. This integration allows both devices to exchange information in real-time, achieving more efficient energy management and optimizing the electric vehicle charging process.

The Trydan charger is compatible with a wide range of Sofar inverters, including hybrid models (HYD), the 3000–6000 series, as well as single-phase and three-phase inverters, allowing for integration in different types of installations and energy configurations.

Connection methods between Trydan and Sofar

There are two main ways to connect the Trydan charger to a Sofar inverter:

Modbus RTU Connection (RS485 wired) – Recommended

The Modbus RTU connection allows for direct communication via cable, being the most stable and recommended option for fixed installations.

Make the physical connection from the RS485 port of the Sofar inverter to the Trydan charger using RJ45/UTP cable. Connect pin 2 (A/RS485+) and pin 3 (B/RS485-) of the inverter to the corresponding pins on the RS485 cover of Trydan (see diagram).

Once the physical connection is made, scroll down this page to the ‘Mandatory Step – Configuration in the V2C Cloud app’ to adjust the necessary parameters to ensure its proper functioning.

Modbus TCP WiFi Connection

You can use the Modbus TCP option if you have the dongle Solarman Stick Logger LSW-3, which connects to the inverter via RS-232, providing connection to it through WiFi.

The connection to the dongle is made via local WiFi. Both devices must be connected to the same local network.

You need to enter the IP and the S/N of the Stick Logger in the dynamic power control settings in the free V2C Cloud app. To do this, scroll down this page to the ‘Mandatory Step – Configuration in the V2C Cloud app’ to find out how to proceed.

Mandatory step – Configuration in the V2C Cloud app

This step is mandatory for both types of connection, whether via Wi-Fi or wired connection.

It is essential to perform the dynamic power control configuration from V2C Cloud (in mobile app or web version) to ensure the proper functioning of the system. Without this configuration, the equipment will not be able to manage the available power properly or optimize the charging.

If you are using a wired connection, refer to the penultimate image. On the other hand, if you are using the connection via dongle, consult the last image.

If using a dongle, you must enter the IP and S/N of the dongle in the app:

– Identify the Serial Number (SN) on the StickLogger label.
– To check the assigned IP, connect to the device’s Wi-Fi network (AP_xxxxxxxx) using the PSW key from the label. Once connected, access 10.10.100.254 from your browser (username admin – password admin) and locate the address in the Quick Set > IP Address menu.

Important: entering the Serial Number is crucial; without it, communication between Trydan and the inverter cannot be established.

If you do not yet have an account in V2C Cloud or have questions about how the app works, you can consult this V2C Cloud configuration guide.
