Tax deductions in Navarra for taxpayers who purchase an electric vehicle charging point.

What tax deductions exist in Navarra to encourage the purchase of electric vehicles and charging points?

In 2017, the registration of electric vehicles in Navarra grew by 82% compared to the previous year.

Electric vehicle sales in Navarra increased by 82% in 2017 compared to the previous year, totaling 227 units in the Foral Community since 2011, the year for which the first registration data is available. An advertising campaign commissioned by the Government of Navarra is promoting tax incentives and environmental benefits to boost sustainable mobility starting this Monday.

According to data from the General Directorate of Traffic regarding Navarra, there is a slow but steady increase in the number of registered electric vehicles in Navarra, including cars, mopeds, vans or light trucks, tricycles, or heavy or light quadricycles, since bicycles, although included in the government’s tax incentive plan, are not registered and therefore do not appear in the statistics.

The annual registration sequence is: 2011, 10; 2012, 6; 2013, 21; 2014, 14; 2015, 17; 2016, 30; 2017, 81. In addition, there are 48 vehicles registered between January and May, which suggests that the closing figures for this year will exceed those of 2017.

The advertising campaign will highlight tax advantages of up to 30% of the vehicle price for companies and individuals when purchasing plug-in vehicles, in addition to the technological and environmental benefits of a technology that emits hardly any noise or pollutants. The deductions are valid throughout the year 2018.

Tax deductions for companies and individuals purchasing electric vehicles in Navarra

The Government of Navarra has established tax deductions for this year of 30% on the price of electric vehicles for companies and individuals, 5% if the vehicle is a plug-in hybrid, and between 15-25% deduction for the installation of charging points. This measure was established through a tax measures law accompanying the Foral Budget Law for 2018.

The tax incentives apply to all types of electric vehicles: cars, bicycles, mopeds, vans or light trucks, tricycles, or heavy or light quadricycles. The measure does not limit the number of vehicles purchased by an owner nor is it subject to a deadline. Exemption can be requested at the following link throughout 2018.

In addition to the tax incentive, the government is working in various areas to strengthen the push for environmentally sustainable mobility. Last week, an agreement was signed with the Pamplona Comarca Association, whereby the Government of Navarra will subsidize the complete electrification of one of the regional urban transport lines starting next year.
