When a user wants to charge their electric car on the street, they must keep in mind that they can only use it for 2 hours; after that time, they must leave the space free for another user. Additionally, these spaces are reserved solely for charging the electric vehicle and not just for parking.

The number of electric car charging points in Madrid is very low; electric vehicle owners, due to the scarcity of charging locations on public roads, must charge their electric cars at their homes.

In other words, out of the 324 electric car charging points in the Community of Madrid, only 24 are public. The DGT confirms that there are 5,313 electric vehicles in this region, which translates to one public charging point for every 221 users in Madrid.

In light of this situation, the Madrid City Council committed to installing 15 more points by 2020.
