What electric vehicle charging point to choose for your company? (Part 2)

In this article, we continue discussing charging points for electric cars, analyzing the most common electric vehicles in companies. In the first part of this article, we detailed the charging points needed for these models:  Kia Soul Kia Soul EV MY18, Nissan Leaf electric, Nissan e-NV200 EVALIA electric, Mitsubishi I-MIEV electric, Peugeot iON electric, Citroën C-Zero Electric, CITROËN E-BERLINGO electric, Ford Focus Electric, and Hyundai IONIQ electric.

In this second part, we continue explaining what type of chargers the car models that companies usually acquire for their vehicle fleets need.

BMW i3 electric.

  • The BMW i3 electric has a Type 2 connector (Mennekes – IEC 62196 – Chameleon).
  • Charging Time BMW i3. The BMW i3 can fully charge in 30 minutes from a public charger (DC, Direct Current). Charging at home with alternating current, it will be fully charged in less than 3 hours with a mode 3 charger, or in less than 6 hours with a mode 2 charger.
  • Cost of Charging a BMW i3. The estimated cost of charging a BMW i3 will always depend on the rate contracted at your home; however, approximately, the cost would be €0.8 on a standard rate (€0.13/kW) and €0.4 on a night rate (€0.06/kW).
  • Range BMW i3. The battery of the BMW i3 has a capacity of 6.38 kWh, which provides a range of 180 km in electric mode.

Renault ZOE ZE 40 electric.

  • The RENAULT ZOE has a Type 2 connector (Mennekes – IEC 62196 – Chameleon).
  • Charging Time RENAULT ZOE. The Renault ZOE fully charges its battery (22 kWh) in 16 hours with mode 2 at 10A and 2.3 kW; in mode 3, it ranges from 3 hours (three-phase socket) to 6 hours (single-phase socket).
  • Cost of Charging RENAULT ZOE. The approximate price of charging a RENAULT ZOE will always depend on the rate contracted at home; however, approximately, the cost would be €0.80 on a standard rate (€0.13/kW) and €0.40 on a night rate (€0.06/kW).
  • Range RENAULT ZOE. The battery of the RENAULT ZOE has a capacity of 22 kWh, which provides a range of 190 km.

Tesla Model S electric.

  • The TESLA MODEL S has a Type 2 connector (Mennekes – IEC 62196 – Chameleon).
  • Charging Time TESLA MODEL S. Fully charging the Tesla Model S can take from 4 to 10 hours depending on the type of charging and installation.
  • Cost of Charging TESLA MODEL S. The approximate price of charging a TESLA MODEL S will always depend on the rate contracted at home; however, approximately, the cost would be €1.20 on a standard rate (€0.13/kW) and €0.60 on a night rate (€0.06/kW).
  • Range TESLA MODEL S. The Tesla Model S can have a 75 kWh battery that, depending on weather conditions and driving speed, can reach a range of 490 km. This electric car can also have a larger battery of 100 kWh, which increases the range to 632 km.

Volkswagen e-UP! Electric.

  • The E-UP has a Type 2 connector (Mennekes – IEC 62196 – Chameleon).
  • Charging Time E-UP. Fully charging the E-UP! takes 7-9 hours at a mode 2 charging point; and 4-6 hours with a mode 3 charging point. This electric vehicle is also adapted for fast charging in direct current (DC, Mode 4).
  • Cost of Charging E-UP. The approximate cost of charging an E-UP will always depend on the rate contracted at your home; however, approximately, the cost would be €0.80 on a standard rate (€0.13/kW) and €0.40 on a night rate (€0.06/kW).
  • Range E-UP. The battery of the Volkswagen E-UP! allows for a range of 160 km.

Mercedes Class B 250e Electric.

  • The Mercedes Class B Electric has a Type 2 connector (Mennekes – IEC 62196 – Chameleon).
  • Charging Time MERCEDES CLASS B. Fully charging the Mercedes Class B 250e takes about 12 hours in mode 2, and about 9 hours in mode 3 with three-phase charging.
  • Cost of Charging MERCEDES CLASS B. The approximate price of charging a Mercedes Class B will always depend on the rate you have at home; however, approximately, the cost would be €0.80 on a standard rate (€0.13/kW) and €0.40 on a night rate (€0.06/kW).
  • Range MERCEDES CLASS B. The MERCEDES CLASS B has a range of 200 km and has a charging capacity of 28 km/h.

Renault Kangoo ZE electric.

  • Charging Connector RENAULT KANGOO ZE. The RENAULT KANGOO ZE has a Type 2 connector (Mennekes – IEC 62196 – Chameleon).
  • Charging Time RENAULT KANGOO ZE. The charging power of the RENAULT KANGOO ZE is 3.7 kW; full charging takes between 6 and 9 hours at 16A.
  • Cost of Charging RENAULT KANGOO ZE. The approximate price of charging a RENAULT KANGOO ZE will always depend on the rate contracted at home; however, approximately, the cost would be €1.20 on a standard rate (€0.13/kW) and €0.60 on a night rate (€0.06/kW).
  • Range RENAULT KANGOO ZE. The RENAULT KANGOO ZE has a range of 200 km, thanks to a battery with a charging capacity of 33 km/h.
