Electric car purchase subsidies in Catalonia

The Ministry of Agriculture has approved the call for subsidies to promote the acquisition of electric vehicles and low-emission vehicles intended for taxi service, commercial use, and other services operating in special protection areas in Catalonia.

These subsidies are aimed at the purchase of low-emission vehicles for taxi service and for vehicles used for commercial and service purposes operating in special atmospheric protection areas with the goal of improving air quality in municipalities with high traffic density.

The deadline for making the subsidized purchase is from April 5 until the last day for submitting applications. Period: 12/05/2018 to 11/07/2018

The following vehicles are eligible for the subsidy:

• Vehicles of category M1 (vehicles with a maximum of eight seats, excluding the driver’s seat, designed and manufactured for passenger transport, according to Directive 2001/116/EC of the Commission, of December 20) that are:
  • Pure electric vehicles.
  • Extended-range electric vehicles.
  • Plug-in hybrid vehicles with a minimum electric range of 40 km.
  • Gasoline hybrid vehicles with emissions equal to or less than 60 mg NOx/km (Euro 6 or higher).
  • Vehicles that use LPG and natural gas as an energy source, or bi-fuel, with a gasoline engine.
• Vehicles of category N1 (vehicles with a maximum weight not exceeding 3.5 tons, designed and manufactured for the transport of goods, according to Directive 2001/116/EC of the Commission, of December 20) that are:
  • Pure electric vehicles.
  • Extended-range electric vehicles.
  • Plug-in hybrid vehicles with a minimum electric range of 40 km.
  • Vehicles that use LPG and natural gas as an energy source, or bi-fuel, with a gasoline engine.

Who it is aimed at:

• Individuals or legal entities who, at the time of application and until the effective granting of the subsidy, hold a taxi license from the Metropolitan Area of Barcelona or from any of the following municipalities within the special atmospheric protection area: Martorell, Rubí, Sabadell, Sant Quirze del Vallès, Santa Perpètua de Mogoda, Terrassa, Granollers, la Llagosta, Martorelles, Mollet del Vallés, Montmeló, Montornès del Vallès, Parets del Vallés, Sant Fost de Campsentelles.
• Legal entities that establish a rental or leasing contract with holders of a taxi license from the Metropolitan Area of Barcelona or from any of the following municipalities within the special atmospheric protection area: Martorell, Rubí, Sabadell, Sant Quirze del Vallès, Santa Perpètua de Mogoda, Terrassa, Granollers, la Llagosta, Martorelles, Mollet del Vallés, Montmeló, Montornès del Vallès, Parets del Vallés, Sant Fost de Campsentelles.
• Individuals who are self-employed professionals, private companies, foundations, and other non-profit entities operating in the special atmospheric protection area according to Decree 226/2006, of May 23, and its future modifications.
• Legal entities that establish a rental or leasing contract for a vehicle with an individual who is a self-employed professional, with a private company, with a foundation, or with another non-profit entity operating in the special atmospheric protection area according to Decree 226/2006, of May 23, and its future modifications.
