The new firmware 2.5.0 for the Trydan and Trydan Pro e-Chargers is now available, and it brings one of the most requested features by our user community: V2C SmartLock on smartphones! This means the ability to link your smartphone to lock and unlock the charger simply by approaching it, without the need to open the app or press any buttons.
Until now, this proximity detection thanks to V2C SmartLock technology was only available for devices with a fixed Bluetooth MAC address: key fobs, smartwatches, RFID/BLE cards, or compatible electric vehicles. Smartphones were excluded, as they use rotating Bluetooth addresses for privacy. With firmware 2.5.0, this changes: you can now link your smartphone and use it to lock and unlock the charger by proximity, just like with the other devices.
Important requirement: this feature requires the charger firmware 2.5.0 or later, and the V2C Cloud mobile app version 3.2.1 or higher. If you do not see the option to link your smartphone via proximity, first check that you have both versions updated.
Why use your smartphone?
Your smartphone is the only device you carry with you almost all the time, so turning it into your access key solves several problems at once.
- Nothing to forget or lose: no keychain, no card, no remote. If you have your phone, you have the key.
- Automatic proximity security: the charger unlocks when it detects your smartphone nearby, but it also locks itself as soon as you move away with it. There’s no need to remember to lock it manually or the risk of leaving it unlocked by mistake.
- Faster: once paired, the charger recognizes you as you approach, without the need to unlock your phone or open the V2C app.

Update the firmware and the app before using it
To enjoy this feature, you need two updates, not just one:
- Charger firmware: version 2.5.0 or later. It can be updated from the V2C Cloud app, in the charger configuration section. For more information on how to update the charger to the latest version.
- V2C Cloud mobile app: version 3.2.1 or higher, available on the App Store and Google Play.
If you only update one of the two, the proximity linking option may not appear or may not function correctly.
