Today, from Power2Drive 2026 in Munich, we are announcing the most important launch in V2C’s history. Trydan makes the leap to bidirectionality. Your electric vehicle no longer just consumes energy — it can also return it to your home.
We have been preparing for this moment for months. Weeks revealing news on our way to Power2Drive. And today, finally, we can share everything about Trydan bidirectional.
Under the claim “Energy no longer flows in one direction”, we officially present Trydan V2L Island Mode, the first bidirectional solution from Trydan available, and we announce Trydan V2G and V2H, which will arrive in Q1 2027.
Learn more about Trydan V2L Island mode
What it is
Trydan V2L Island mode allows you to power your entire home with the energy stored in your electric vehicle’s battery.
Why is it called “Island Mode”
The home is disconnected from the electrical grid during the process. This disconnection is mandatory for safety. Trydan sends the disconnection order to a Smart switch installed in the main panel, and everything happens automatically, without manual intervention.

How it works step by step
1. Activate the mode from the free V2C Cloud app. Select your vehicle and activate V2L Island mode.
2. Automatic disconnection from the grid. Trydan sends the command to the electrical protection of your main panel. The home is safely isolated from the grid.
3. Your car powers your home. The energy from your vehicle’s battery flows through Trydan to the entire installation of your home. Lighting, heating, essential appliances — everything runs on the energy from your car.
What situations is it useful for
In case of power outages or emergency situations, the island mode allows the use of energy stored in the electric vehicle to power essential devices and facilities. Thanks to this feature, your car becomes an independent power source, providing electricity even when the electrical grid is unavailable.
Important considerations
Trydan V2L Island mode is designed for single-family homes. The solution requires that the charger and the home installation share a single electrical panel.
During island mode, the home is disconnected from the grid, so it is not possible to consume energy from the grid and the vehicle at the same time.
In addition, the use of this new functionality requires that the electric vehicle is compatible with V2L technology. If you have questions about the compatibility of your model, we recommend consulting us before installation.

Trydan V2G and V2H — available in Q1 2027
Trydan V2G and V2H is the natural evolution of V2L Island mode and the full bidirectionality that is yet to come.
V2G — Vehicle to Grid
With V2G, the energy stored in your vehicle’s battery is injected directly into the power grid. Charge at night with off-peak rates or with surplus solar energy, and sell that energy to the grid when electricity prices rise. Your car generates economic value even when it is parked.
V2H — Vehicle to Home
With V2H, the energy from the vehicle powers the home in a fully bidirectional manner, without the need to disconnect from the grid. The system automatically manages when to use the car’s energy and when to draw from the grid, optimizing consumption and reducing the bill without you having to do anything.
Why is it arriving in 2027 and not before?
V2G and V2H require two conditions that are still maturing in the sector:
Compatible vehicles — vehicles need to support the bidirectional communication protocol ISO 15118-20. More and more models are incorporating it, but mass adoption is still in progress.
Regulatory framework — each EU country is adapting its regulatory framework to allow energy injection from vehicles to the grid. This process is progressing and is expected to be sufficiently developed by the first quarter of 2027.
V2L Island mode is our answer to that wait — a solution that already today offers real energy independence to the home user.
The software ecosystem, included as standard
All bidirectional management is controlled from the free app V2C Cloud, included at no additional cost with each Trydan charger. Activation of V2L Island mode, energy control, real-time monitoring, and alerts — all from your mobile.
At V2C, we believe in smarter, more efficient, and connected energy. Bidirectionality is a step further towards an ecosystem where the electric vehicle not only charges but also protects and supports your home when you need it most. A technology designed to provide peace of mind, autonomy, and energy control in any situation.
