It is nine o’clock at night in the garage of the Av. Naranjos community. Marta arrives with her car, parks in her spot, number 4, and plugs in. She doesn’t notify anyone, doesn’t write anything down: her Trydan Pro already knows who she is and who to bill. At the same time, Javier is charging in spot 12 and Lucía in 19. Andrés has his charging scheduled for two in the morning, when energy is cheaper. Five neighbors, a single meter for the entire garage, and no one has to do any calculations.

Five neighbors, one garage, no hassle
The garage on Av. Naranjos has a single main meter, like many communities built in recent years. Instead of complicating things by registering a meter for each home, the community installed a collective charging system: a Cloud Meter at the main connection and a Trydan Pro charger for each parking space.
Right now, there are 10.8 kW available to distribute among the cars that are charging. Marta, Javier, and Lucía are drawing energy at the same time, at 2.7 kW each; Nuria joins a little later, also at 2.7 kW. The moment Lucía finishes her charge, her share of power becomes available instantly for the others. No one has to call the administrator for permission or adjust anything manually: the system automatically distributes what is available.

At the end of the month, each neighbor receives a bill for exactly what they have charged. Marta has made 11 charges this month, totaling 265 kWh: €13.25. Javier, 8 charges and 172 kWh: €8.60. Lucía, 7 charges and 152.3 kWh: €7.62. Each charge is recorded with the card that made it, so there is no need for anyone in the building to check meters or distribute a receipt by hand. The billing is done automatically, with the card that each neighbor has associated with their charger.

And if one month a neighbor’s payment fails (expired card, insufficient funds…) the administrator can block that specific charging point from the computer, without affecting anyone else in the garage.
When a new neighbor arrives
Several months ago, on Av. Naranjos, only three cars were charging. When Andrés bought his, there was no need for any construction or complicated paperwork; within minutes he was already in the system. Shortly after, Nuria arrived, and the process was exactly the same.
That is perhaps the best summary of how this works in practice: the garage has not had to be redone even once since the first charger. The installation is ready for neighbor number six, eight, or twenty, on the day they decide to buy an electric car.
